Mr. Curtin focuses his practice in the areas of trusts and estates and business law, primarily for families and owners of privately held businesses and professionals.
In his trusts and estates practice, he advises clients regarding:
- Wills, Trusts, Advanced Health Care Directives and Financial Powers of Attorney
- Gift and Estate Tax planning
- Tax planning with life insurance
- Asset protection planning
- Estate and Trust administration
- Planned charitable giving
- Estate and Trust litigation
Mr. Curtin is a partner in our firm. A native of Washington, DC, Mr. Curtin regularly advises clients on estate planning strategies to minimize taxes, avoid probate and protect assets. Mr. Curtin has appeared as lead and co-counsel in many adversarial proceedings involving will and trust contests, breach of fiduciary duty by an executor or trustee and other trust and estate related matters. In addition, he has appeared as lead counsel in over 100 probate proceedings in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Mr. Curtin has volunteered pro bono legal services to the disadvantaged through the Archdiocesan Legal Network of Catholic Charities in Washington, D.C. He is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of Washington, D.C., the American Bar Association, as well as a member of the Maryland Bar Association’s Trust and Estates Section, and the District of Columbia Bar Association’s Trust and Estate Section.
